Golden Milk

Another way to take your turmeric, while satisfying that sweet tooth

Golden Milk! It sounds like a mythical elixir of immortality that comes from the golden glowing cow of life...or something. Close!

Golden milk is a simple and delicious turmeric-infused beverage that you can make with whichever version of milk you prefer- cows milk, soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, hemp milk, whatever! I love it with coconut milk because the flavors go so well together, less honey is needed to counter the bitterness of the turmeric, and because of it's ultra-creamy texture....mmhmm.

The list of physical health benefits from consuming turmeric is seemingly endless- there's all of the antis: antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, etc. And then there are benefits like increased liver function, healthier skin, lower blood pressure, better digestive function, we could really go on all day. Drinking a cup of golden milk a few times a week is a yummy way to help improve your overall health.

It's pretty quick and easy to make, and even quicker and easier to make if you've got some golden paste on hand. So here I have two ways of going about making your beautiful yellow health treat- If you have your golden paste all ready to go, you'll just need:

  • 1 cup milk of your choice

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon Golden Paste

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg (optional)

  • Honey (or other sweetener) to taste

  1. In a small pan, heat all ingredients, EXCEPT the honey or sweetener, together over low heat until the milk comes to a gentle simmer. Remove from heat, pour into a cup, add your sweetener, let it cool a bit and enjoy while warm :)

So easy!

If you DON'T have Golden Paste ready made, and you'd just rather not bother with it (though I do recommend you bother), you'll need:

  • 1 cup milk of your choice

  • 1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric

  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Pinch of nutmeg

  • Honey to taste

  1. In a small pan, warm coconut oil, black pepper, and turmeric over low heat.

  2. Stir in the rest of the ingredients, EXCEPT the honey or sweetener, and bring to a simmer.

  3. Remove from heat, add your sweetener, and enjoy it while warm! But don't burn yourself :P
